Chilango: The only place for vegan chicken

When I first heard vegan chicken, I was skeptical but intrigued. Especially as the new Mexican place was offering it. Now, after three tries with different people, I've made up my mind...

So, this place is well proportioned for all that enter. Making it easy to always find a seat and have that little bit of privacy whilst you're dining.

I love the look of the place. It's colourful, there are posters of wrestlers that remind of Nacho Libre and a variety of Mexican themed decorations. It works.

There are a number of options for vegans but the one I was most intrigued about is called THIS™ Isn't Chicken, which is lightly spiced with piquin, paprika and cumin, chargrilled and glazed with BBQ Maple salsa and a squeeze of lime. This is available in a Hotbox, which is served with coriander lime rice, black beans and Pico de Gallo salsa, a Burrito, which is served with coriander lime rice, black beans, Pico de Gallo salsa - all inside a soft flour tortilla and a Salad, which is served on a bed of mixed baby leaves with Pico de Gallo salsa. To be honest you can have it however you want it. I've had it in all three guises and love it as a Hotbox. I just love that combo and the portion you get is so filling, all are around a fiver too. They have chilli sauce in a mild, medium and hot version and when they say hot, they mean it!

Also, a major shout out to those Sweet Potato Waffle Fries, you're beautiful with a dollop of chilli sauce, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Overall, I love Chilango's. It's become my go-to place when I'm craving chicken. As it's chargrilled and so full of flavour! A good price and an even greater portion plus the staff are lovely.

**I was invited to the eatery for their launch event and was given complimentary vegan food. My views are my own but the meal was paid for by the venue, in exchange for this review**

Would I go back? Yes, I have and I will continue to do so.

How did they cope with the vegan dietary requirement? Easily, the vegan chicken is made to order and the staff that I have come across know what they are doing. One of them is vegan too, which helps.

What are the prices like? Really reasonable, as you can get a drink, burrito and fries for around £12.

What is eatery best for? A cheap eating place, a lunch date or for when you're craving some Mexican spice for a low price.

Hope you enjoyed this review. Let me know if you're been on any of my social media channels and what you thought
